The body substitutes physical pain for emotional pain it would rather not face creating what is now referred to as a psychophysiologic disorder described in my new Chronic Pain and EFT blog. The good news is that there are now approaches such as EFT which can interrupt these neural pathways and heal the cycle of chronic pain, potentially alleviating the opioid crisis and rescuing the healthcare industry from economic collapse under the weight of overused diagnostic and therapeutic technology.

Approach your symptoms as if they are dream symbols. We will begin with physical symptoms related to grief such as sinusitis, postnasal drip and bronchitis. Food cravings will also be tapped on to facilitate weight loss. Autoimmune and symbolic pain conditions such as MS, ALS, interstitial cystitis, chronic urticaria and frozen shoulder will be addressed as somatic metaphors for healing.

This October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month do yourself a favor and start keeping a dream diary as it may save your life. That was the experience of the 18 women in my breast cancer dreams research project which was published in Explore: The Journal of Science and Healing in 2015. They had dreams warning about breast cancer prior to any symptoms or tests, and all are alive years later after having their cancers diagnosed and treated. The highlights of the ongoing research are summarized in this Breast Cancer Dream Awareness blog.

The results of my breast cancer warning dreams research are highlighted in my recent TEDxRaleigh talk along with a case of uterine cancer where a clarifying dream was required to determine the meaning of the initial dream. Stories about Colon Cancer Warning Dreams are featured in the July 2016 Let Magic Happen newsletter. The take home messages are to keep a dream diary, share the dreams with your doctor, and take the warnings seriously. I was noticing daily bouts of palpitations associated with mild nausea where I could feel my pulse racing at twice the normal speed. A repeat Holter monitor showed one episode of life-threatening VTach which got me a prescription for a beta blocker. Never having taken any drugs other than antibiotics before, it was an unusual experience. My resting heart rate immediately dropped from 60 to 50, my chronically cold hands and feet got warmer, and my wife noted that my personality was flat.
I embarked on a journey of self-healing exploring every possible natural option beginning with learning to increase my heart rate variability using the Inner Balance Coherence Sensor and App from HeartMath which has been shown to decrease arrhythmias. Cardiac herbs Hawthorn and Arjuna were added to my daily supplements along with homeopathic Digitalis and Aurum Arsenicum as recommended in homeopath Joette Calabrese’s blog My Dad and the Dead Cardiologists.
